The Laird Connection in Ireland
Clan MacLeod U.S A.

The following quote is taken from the MacLeod website, it points to some
interesting clues about Lairds in Ireland. One point is the time frame in which
the Lairds migrated into Ireland, more on this later.

"Laird

Although not considered a sept of MacLeod, MacLeod nevertheless accepts
Laird as one of its own, the Scottish surname was brought to Ulster by settlers
following the plantation schemes of the 17th century. (Irish Family Names by
Brian Breffny)."

When we take a close look at the Laird Y-DNA we notice a close match to a lot
of surnames, and a large percentage of these names are associated to clans.
Of course this may mean nothing at all, or there may be some pattern here
that may make sense at a later date. If we look at my Laird Y-DNA we do not
see a match to Clan Macleod.
