The Clan Donald U.S.A. Genetic Project has identified the genetic signature of Colla Uais the
father of Dalriada who came to Scotland in 325 ad. This is a very important link to the past

Laird line your family descends from in America. We have extensive Laird research for
Lairds coming out of Pennsylvania and spreading across the United States. Our Laird line
came to Pennsylvania about 1735 and 80% of the Lairds in the United States originate from

Lodowick Laird bought land in Pennsylvania in 1755 and was soon part of the Great Wagon
Road migration that traveled down the east coast. After repeated Indian attacks and his
neighbor being tomahawked Lodowick Laird sold his land to Samuel Laird and moved south.
The fact that Lodowick sold land to Samuel Laird has led many people to wonder if these two
great family lines were related. New information has been found to prove this is not the
case. Some of the email we receive here at LairdGenealogy.com asks this very question. This
is not to say that these families are not related in some way, we do know that they had
contact with each other. More on this later.

This Laird family came to America in the early 1730s, and flowed across
America like a flood, opening new frontiers from coast to coast. When we look at
the extended Laird family 27 men are know to have fought in the revolutionary
war for a free United States.
